Reduction in the remote storage limit in CDP purges files backed up before

Technote (FAQ)

Question

What will happen to the files saved on remote storage when the limit is reduced after the Continuous Data Protection client backup?

Answer

Continuous Data Protection for Files will purge files from the remote location to bring the usage to approximately 80% of the remote storage pool size.
The backed up files will be purged and not available for restores.

For example:

If you have set the remote storage to 5 GB and have backed up about 3 GB of data, but thereafter the remote storage space is reduced to 2GB. This will cause the data exceeding 80% of 2 GB on this remote storage to be purged and it will not be available for any restores.
