Extraction of the files from the downloaded .zip file fails. The following is the sequence of events:
- You download Tivoli Storage Manager for Reporting and Monitoring for Windows from Passport Advantage.
- You try to extract all files from the .zip file to a directory that has a name with more than 52 characters.
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\MyDocuments\download\image\passport\TCR\610
- You are prompted for a password during the extraction process.
The total length of a path name is restricted to 255 characters on Windows systems. To avoid exceeding this limit during extraction of the .zip file, the destination directory for the extraction cannot be more than 52 characters long.
The following file in the .zip file has the longest name, which is 203 characters:
<destination_directory>\COI\DeploymentSteps\DB2_9.1\FILES\VSAI\Windows\program files\IBM\IBM Database add-ins for Visual Studio 2005\tools\vsnet\vs2005\DB2PrjProjectItems \ProjectItems \Procedures\DB2CS_NewCLRProcWizard.ico
When you extract the files, if the directory that you specify has a name that is greater than 52 characters, the download fails because the name of the directory plus the 203-character file name exceeds the 255-character limit.
Resolving the problem
Select a destination directory for the package extraction that is 52 characters or less. Retry the extraction.
