Question & Answer
Question
How do you update the Telelogic license file after you have purchased additional features or have been sent an updated license file from the IBM Rational License team?
Cause
Typically, you may already be running a license manager that is serving Telelogic licenses.
You may have purchased additional features or may have purchased additional seats.
You may have used the Rational License Key Center to either re-generate the entire license file for your host or you may have generated the license for the feature that you recently purchased.
In either case, you will need to update the current license manager with the new license items.
Answer
Read the options below to determine which steps are applicable to your situation.
- The license administrator can simply reread the license file if only a simple change is made and no changed to the SERVER, VENDOR or DAEMON lines have been made.
- If changes have been made to the SERVER, VENDOR or DAEMON lines then license server re-start is necessary. Also if a license re-read doesn't sufficient then the recommendation is to re-start the license manager.
IMPORTANT: Ensure to warn all current users connected to the license manager that a reread or a potential license manager re-start will take place and that they should save their work in their respective applications that are served by the license manager.
