Verity K2 services on Content Search Engine does not start automatically

Troubleshooting

Problem

Even though the Verity K2 service on the FileNet Content Engine Content Search Engine is set to start automatically, in some cases it does not start, and the logs show the error, The pipe state is invalid.

Symptom

The Verify K2 service did not start automatically upon startup of the Content Search Engine, and in the Event log, the following error is seen:

    Date: x/xx/2009, src: SCM
    Time: 10:17:53am, EventID: 7000
The Verity K2 6.2.1 Administration Server service failed to start due
    to the following error:

    The pipe state is invalid.

The problem doesn't always occur, and when it does, the Verity K2 6.2.1 Administration Server service can be started from the Windows Service Manager GUI.

Cause

The Verity K2 6.2.1 Administration Server service is trying to start before Windows network service has completed starting

Resolving The Problem

To remedy this, you can add a "Server" dependency to the Verity K2 Administration Server service.

  • Run the following command from a command prompt to add the dependency:
    C:\>sc config "Verity K2 6.2.1 Administration Server" depend= lanmanserver

After running the command, look at the Properties for the service and verify you now see the dependency.
