When logging into Sametime some users recieve error "Client has exceeded the server request-rate threshold"
Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem
The Error "Client has exceeded the server request-rate threshold" occurs due to the Sametime Mux Defensive Fix that is enabled by default in all Sametime 8.x Servers. (This is Detailed by the following technote http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21230709)
In some cases this error may occur due to very large buddy list or when using file transfer for files over 1000 kb.
Resolving the problem
To resolve the issue we would want to modify the threshold values
Open the sametime.ini file located in the Sametime server installation directory (the default directory is C:\program files\lotus\domino).
Add the following setting to the [Config] section:
VPMX_THRESHOLD_MSG_COUNT=20000
VPMX_THRESHOLD_SEND_MSG_COUNT=50000
VPMX_THRESHOLD_INTERNAL=0
Save the file.
Restart the Sametime server.
