Known problems in IBM DB2 Document Manager Version 8.4.2

News

Abstract

This technote describes problems in IBM DB2 Document Manager Version 8.4.2 that were discovered before the product shipped.

Content

This technote includes the following sections:
1. Installation
2. Error messages
3. Documentation

1. Installation

1.1 An error prevents the DB2 Document Manager installation program from creating the DM_user user ID

Problem:
When you run the DB2 Document Manager installation program on a clean Microsoft Windows Server workstation that does not have any related software installed, you see the following error message:

Can not load <path>\DdmUtil.dll

As a result of this error, the installation program does not create the DM_user user ID.

Cause:
To create the DM_User user ID, the DB2 Document Manager installation program uses a dynamic link library (DLL) file, DdmUtil.dll, which dynamically links to other Microsoft DLL files.

During installation, the installation program uses your system's PATH environment variable to search for these linked DLL files in a directory, for example, Windows\system32. If the installation program cannot find the DLL files in the directory, the error occurs and the DM_user user ID is not created.

Environment: This error occurs with Microsoft Windows server operating systems, such as Windows 2003 Server and Windows 2008 Server.
This error does not occur with Windows non-server operating systems, such as Windows XP.

Workaround:
The DLL files are packaged with the DB2 Document Manager installation program, and are placed in the DB2 Document Manager product installation directory during installation.

Before you start the installation program, add the name of the planned DB2 Document Manager installation directory to the PATH environment variable on your workstation. The installation program can then access the DLL files and load them from that directory, preventing the error.

2. Error messages

2.1
Message DDM18438E might occur in unexpected circumstances

You might see the following error message in situations in which it does not seem applicable, for example, when you check in a document:

ERROR [DDM18438E]: The uniqueness check failed

Causes: You might receive this error because the ICMCONCT password expired. However, there are other circumstances that can cause this error. Be sure to check the DB2 Document Manager error log.

Resolution:

  1. Reset the ICMCONCT password.
  2. If resetting the password does not resolve the problem, check the DB2 Document Manager error log for more information about the event that caused the error.

3. Documentation

3.1 Administration Guide - Using Designer to export and import configurations

The topic Using Designer to export and import configurations should include the following information:

Tip: Users and groups that are assigned to roles, actions, dialogs, or desktop templates are appended to the destination library's configuration. The import action does not replace the existing users and groups.

3.2 Client Application Programming Interface (API) Reference - DMSearch object

The topic DMsearch object should include the following information:

Source:
LibraryQueryString
LibraryQueryString specifies the query string to use for the search. This string must conform to the specification of the DB2 Content Manager XPath query language. See the DB2 Content Manager Application Programming Reference for the required syntax. LibraryQueryString is used only if the value of the SearchType property is dmSearchTypeQueryString.

Correction:
