ALLOWUSERKEYCSA default changed in z/OS version 1.9

Question & Answer

Question

What should I as an InfoSphere Classic Federation user be aware of when upgrading z/OS to version 1.9?

Cause

Z/OS closed an MVS security issue resulting from applications acquiring CSA in Key 8. At z/OS 1.8 the default was ALLOWUSERKEYCSA(YES) for compatibility, with a default of NO to be set in a later release. z/OS V1R9 now sets the default in DIAGxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB to ALLOWUSERKEYCSA(NO). This resulted in S0C4 or B78 - 5C abend in Classic Servers.

Answer

You need to configure for ALLOWUSERKEYCSA(YES) to run Classic Servers.
