Problem

Finding where the logs are located can be time consuming. There exists a bat file called the LogZipper within the Maximo installation directory which can be run and will zip up all logs required by support.

Cause

Troubleshooting error messages with the Maximo installation process.

Diagnosing The Problem

LogZipper will collect all the necessary logs and compress them. It is located in the SMP directory. Commonly this path will be:

Windows: To generate the zip file, start a command prompt. Navigate to the installation root (by default, C:\\IBM\\SMP) to the \ConfigTool\scripts directory. Execute LogZipper.bat. The output file will be in \ibm\SMP\ConfigTool\debug, with a file name in year-date-time format (for example, 201606071640.zip).

Unix: To generate the tar file, run the shell script LogZipper.sh from the installation root (by default, /opt/IBM/SMP) /ConfigTool/scripts directory. Execute LogZipper.sh. The output file will be in the installation root /ConfigTool/debug directory, with a file name in year-date-time format (for example, 201606071640.tar).

The LogZipper will create a new directory called debug, if it does not already exist. The archive will be found here once it completed the process. The filename will be the date the LogZipper was executed, example, 20160607_164704.zip|.tar.
