Moving Unit Elements out of Project Path in Rational Rhapsody

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Is it possible to move IBM Rational Rhapsody unit elements out of the project directory and specify them manually on the next Load?

Cause

You would like to reorganize the Rational Rhapsody files in a separate customized location

Answer

It is not possible to move unit elements out of the project directory and specify them manually on the next Load.

An error will be displayed for Rational Rhapsody versions 7.5.0.1 and up while attempting to load a unit file (that is non-referenced) which does not reside in the project _rpy directory.

  • The best practice is to have your non referenced units under the _rpy directory (in the project path).
  • The current possibility to allow you to specify a unit outside the _rpy directory is a defect.
