IBM Support

Exporting Content Manager OnDemand application group and folder definitions to a local server

Question & Answer

Question

Problems involving data indexing, loading, and configuration in a Content Manager OnDemand server might require an export of the application group and folder definitions for IBM support to investigate. How do I export an application group and folder definition to IBM support?

Answer

A local server provides a method to export Content Manager OnDemand administrative objects without a network connection between Content Manager OnDemand servers.

Setup a local server:

  1. On your workstation create a folder. For example, C:\ODLocalServer.
  2. Launch the OnDemand Administrator Client and go to File->New Server.
  3. Enter a server name. For example, LocalServer.
  4. Set Protocol to Local, your Content Manager OnDemand Server Operating System, and Database.
  5. Browse to the folder you created in step 1 earlier, C:\ODLocalServer, and click OK.

  6. In the left panel of your OnDemand Administrator Client, right-click on the new server that was just created, LocalServer, and select Setup.
  7. A dialog box will appear asking for confirmation, press OK.
  8. The new local server by default will have a user id of admin and a blank password.

Export the application group and folder definitions:
  1. In the OnDemand Administrator Client, logon to the Content Manager OnDemand server containing the desired application group and folder definitions.
  2. Right click on the Application Group you would like to export and select Export.
  3. Select the local server created from the drop down list, check the Ignore Warnings and No Storage Set checkboxes, and click Export.
  4. Run steps two and three again, exporting the Folder definition this time.
  5. Once completed, there will be three folders under the C:\ODLocalServer directory: load, table, and view. Compress and send these folders to IBM support.
