Problem
You install IBM Rational ClearCase on a machine that also serves as the domain controller. The installation fails with an error indicating that the installation cannot create the user for the ALBD service account. You receive this error even if the ALBD service account already exists.
Symptom
When you specify the local system as the ALBD service account, the installation fails with the following error:
Installation failed.
Error during "pre-install configure" phase:
ALBD configuration failed: User does not exist and could not be created.
Resolving The Problem
Complete these steps to resolve the installation problem:
- Restart the installation process.
- When specifying the domain, select the domain that the domain controller creates.
Example: If you are installing on domain controller for domain
MYDOMAIN
, specify a service account on
MYDOMAIN
. Then, in the service account panel, select
MYDOMAIN
rather than the local machine.
Do not specify the local system for the domain.
