Potential crash and table issues with bidirectional languages (Hebrew and Arabic) in Notes 7.0.4
|
| | | Abstract | | Two issues have been identified in Notes 7.0.4 that occur only in bidirectional languages (Arabic and Hebrew). These issues do not occur in Notes versions prior to 7.0.4 nor do they impact Domino servers. See below for more details. (Original publish date June 5, 2009. See "Change History" below.) | | | | | | | Content | | Two issues have been identified in Notes 7.0.4 that occur only in bidirectional languages (Arabic and Hebrew). These issues can cause tables and certain form elements to not honor bidirectional settings and could also lead to a Notes crash. The types of tables that lead to a crash are used in the mail template. Affected versions
-- Notes 7.0.4 Arabic or Hebrew
-- Notes 7.0.4 MUI (Multilingual User Interface) for Arabic or Hebrew on a 7.0.4 Notes client release
Note: The bidirectional template version does not matter. For example, Notes 7.0.4 with a 7.0.3 (or earlier) template would encounter the issue. Notes 7.0.3 with a 7.0.4 template would not encounter the issue. Options to resolve the issue
-- If you are running an affected version (see section above), you can install Notes 7.0.4 Interim Fix 1 (Notes_704CCH1_W32.exe), which can be obtained from IBM Fix Central. Once 7.0.4 Interim Fix 1 is applied, the issues will not occur. You can tell if you are running Notes 7.0.4 Interim Fix 1 by examining the Help\About in the Notes client where it will show 7.0.4 CCH1.
-- Both issues are addressed in the latest Cumulative Client Hotfix (CCH) for Notes 7.0.4, which is available for download from Fix Central.
-- These part numbers were replaced from 7.0.4 to 7.0.4a to address the issue. If you install 7.0.4 with the below new part numbers, these issues will not occur. The Help\About will indicate 7.0.4a. | Seq | Description | Platform | Language | Old Part # | New Part # | | 1 | Notes Client 7.0.4 for Windows 2000, XP and Vista Arabic | Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Vista | Arabic | CZ38HAR | CZ403AR | | 2 | Notes Client 7.0.4 for Windows 2000, XP and Vista Hebrew | Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Vista | Hebrew | CZ38LIW | CZ404IW | | 3 | Notes, Designer Clients 7.0.4 for Windows 2000, XP and Vista Arabic | Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Vista | Arabic | CZ38UAR | CZ405AR | | 4 | Notes, Designer Clients 7.0.4 for Windows 2000, XP and Vista Hebrew | Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Vista | Hebrew | CZ38YIW | CZ406IW | Note: The physical CDs for 7.0.4 are labeled as 7.0.4, but contain the code for 7.0.4a. Customers who received CDs that are labeled 7.0.4 are fine since the code is actually 7.0.4a and addresses this issue.
These two issues are tracked in the SPRs listed below, both of which are fixed in the latest CCH for Notes 7.0.4.
SPR# KZHU7RRFUC: 7.0.4 Notes client crash in mail and other templates related to Table with merged cells
SPR# KZHU7RS5Z5: Form Layout appears out of order under BiDi languages in 7.0.4 Notes client
| 20 Oct 2009 | Added note that issues are fixed in 7.0.4 CCH. | | 25 Aug 2009 | Added note about physical CDs. | | 19 June 2009 | Added table with part numbers. | | 5 June 2009 | First published. | | | | | | | | | | |
