Unable to login to Rational Quality Manager

Technote (troubleshooting)


This technote explains how to resolve an issue logging in to IBM Rational Quality Manager. There is no error. Rational Quality Manager just loops back to the login screen.


When users try to log in to Rational Quality Manager, Rational Quality Manager keeps looping back to the log-in screen. There is no error.


One of the possible causes for this issue is that the Tomcat server was interrupted when first deploying the jazz.war file.

Resolving the problem

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Shut down the Tomcat server if it is running
  2. From Windows Explorer, navigate to <Rational Quality Manager Install Directory>/server/tomcat/work/
  3. Delete all files and folder in this directory (normally, the only directory in this folder is Catalina folder)
  4. Restart the Tomcat server
