How to change language configuration of Rational Team Concert client on a non English locale operating system

Question

How do you change the user interface language in IBM Rational Team Concert client to be different than the operating system?

Cause

Use of the Rational Team Concert with custom user interface language enabled.

Answer

In order to change the language of the Rational Team Concert client, you need to edit the start-up parameters and change them to use the desired language.

Due to backward compatibility there are three possible ways of achieving this goal. You should just choose one and apply it.

OPTION #1:

  1. Open the Rational Team Concert client directory and find the eclipse.ini file.

  2. Add the following lines to the file:

    -nl
    de

    Note: In the second line you can put an abbreviation of language you would like to set, for example en for English, de for German, jp for Japan and others, please refer to Rational Team Concert documentation for more information).

  3. Save the file and restart RTC.

  4. The language is changed to German.

    Example:



OPTION #2:
  1. Open the Rational Team Concert client directory and find the eclipse.ini file.

  2. Add the following lines to the file:

    -Duser.language=en
    -Duser.country=US

  3. Save the file and restart RTC.

  4. The language is changed to English.

    Example:



OPTION #3: For version 3.0.1 and later
  1. Open the Rational Team Concert client directory and find the eclipse.ini file.

  2. Add the following lines to the file:

    -Dosgi.nl=de

  3. Save the file and restart Rational Team Concert.

  4. The language is changed to German.

    Example:
