Problem(Abstract)

08:42:09 CDR GC: catalog recovery begin
08:42:17 CDR GC: catalog recovery complete
08:42:17 CDR queuer initialization complete
08:42:17 CDR NIF listening on asf://g_prodbnc
08:42:17 CDR Grouper: replay logical log ID (XXX) is not present
08:42:18 CDR: Re-connected to server, id XX, name <g_dcf1>
08:42:18 CDR: Re-connected to server, id XX, name <g_dcf2>
08:42:18 CDR: Re-connected to server, id XX, name <g_dcf3>

Symptom

When you atempt to bring ER online you will get the replay logical log id (XXX) is not present

08:42:09 CDR GC: catalog recovery begin
08:42:17 CDR GC: catalog recovery complete
08:42:17 CDR queuer initialization complete
08:42:17 CDR NIF listening on asf://g_prodbnc
08:42:17 CDR Grouper: replay logical log ID (XXX) is not present
08:42:18 CDR: Re-connected to server, id XX, name <g_dcf1>
08:42:18 CDR: Re-connected to server, id XX, name <g_dcf2>
08:42:18 CDR: Re-connected to server, id XX, name <g_dcf3>

Cause

The replay id position of the oldest logical log cannot be found while bringing up replication. This error can be seen post restore or indeed if ER has been shutdown for some time, and the required log disappears from disk.

Resolving the problem

The following command will tell ER that recovery is up to date, and that when it restarts it will pick the current logical log and current log position to re-start snooping from.

  1. cdr stop
  2. cdr cleanstart
