Perfmon counters do not show up on Windows 64 bit OS

You start perfmon after installing WebSphere MQ V7.0.1, V7.0 or V6.0 on a Windows 64-bit operating system, but you do not see the "MQSeries Queues" selection in the Add counters dropdown menu after starting perfmon.


The file amqmperf.dll is the Windows Performance Monitor interface for WebSphere MQ. Since only the 32-bit version of this file is available, the default perfmon on Windows does not show up "MQSeries Queues" in the perfmon counters' list on a 64-bit system.

Be aware that WebSphere MQ V7.1 removed support for queue monitoring using perfmon. Instead, you must use WebSphere MQ monitoring tools to track queue statistics in WebSphere MQ V7.1 and subsequent releases.

Resolving the problem

It is possible to monitor WebSphere MQ V7.0.1, V7.0 and V6.0 queues using the 32 bit version of perfmon. Invoke the 32-bit version of Performance Monitor which is available as:
