How to use Sametime Name Change Utility to convert the buddylists from one LDAP type to another

 Technote (FAQ)

Question
Is it possible to run the Lotus Sametime Name Change utility to convert the vpuserinfo.nsf from one format to another when you change your LDAP directory types?

Answer
Yes, you can achieve this conversion in the same manner that you use the Sametime Name Change Utility with the "ID" operation, because you are simply changing format of the names.

For example, if you want to convert from a Domino LDAP to a Tivoli Directory structure, you have to change the attribute that needs to be used using the operation "ID".

One problem often found in the CSV file that causes failure is having spaces between the name components.

The entry below shows a valid rule. Note that the old name and the new name are separated by a comma without any spaces.

    ID
    "CN=John Doe,OU=anyou,O=ANYORG","uid=JD1223,ou=anyou,dc=ANYORG,DC=COM"

This entry shows an example of a bad rule. Note the space after the comma between the old name and the new name.

    ID
    "CN=John Doe,OU=anyou,O=ANYORG", "uid=JD1223,ou=anyou,dc=ANYORG,DC=COM"

One easy way to ensure that no spaces exist between the name components exist is to use a utility to find all occurrences of comma space (", ") and replace it with comma (",").
