Troubleshooting
Problem
Telnet LU connection drops when the telnet server rejects the Bind from the VTAM application. Telnet LU logs only a session manager on this host. An application is selected off the menu and a CLSDST OPTCD=PASS is issued to pass the telnet LU to another VTAM application. The target VTAM application initiates a session to the telnet LU and a Bind is sent. The SCIP Exit is driven for the telnet LU and the Bind is rejected with an 08010000 sense code.
Symptom
EZZ6034I TELNET CONN xxxxxxxxxxx LU tcpxxxxxx CONN DROP ERR 3012 248
IP..PORT: xx.xx.xx.xx..xxxx
IST663I BIND FAIL REQUEST RECEIVED, SENSE=08010000
IST664I REAL OLU=NETA.TCPxxxxxxx REAL DLU=NETA.APPLA
IST889I SID = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IST1669I IPADDR..PORT xx.xx.xx.xx..xxxx
IST314I END
Cause
The name being passed to the telnet LU in the Bind is the APPLID (name) of the application. The telnet server had an ALLOWAPPL statement coded for the ACBNAME of the application.
Resolving The Problem
The ALLOWAPPL statement needs to be coded with the APPLID of the application, not with the ACBNAME.
