Monitor action services and Monitor scheduled services applications fail to install

Troubleshooting

Problem

While attempting to install the WebSphere Business Monitor support applications on a Linux system, the applications for Monitor action services and Monitor scheduled services fail while other applications install without an issue. The operating system has not been properly prepared for the WebSphere Business Monitor installation.

Symptom

The Monitor actions services and Monitor scheduled services applications fail to install, and you might receive an error message similar to the following error:

DeployEJBTask E ADMA0086E: An error occurred from the EJBDeploy program: /monAAMBootstrap: The project was not built since the source file /monAAMBootstrap/ejbModule/com/ibm/websphere/startupservice/EJSRemoteStatelessActionManagerBootStrap_7769cf4a.java could not be read severity 2 DeployEJBTask W ADMA0087W: A warning is issued from the EJBDeploy program: /monAAMBootstrap: The project was not built since the source file /monAAMBootstrap/ejbModule/com/ibm/websphere/startupservice/EJSRemoteStatelessActionManagerBootStrap_7769cf4a.java could not be read severity 2 DeployEJBTask W ADMA0087W: A warning is issued from the EJBDeploy program: /monAAMBootstrap: The project was not built since the source file /monAAMBootstrap/ejbModule/com/ibm/websphere/startupservice/EJSRemoteStatelessActionManagerBootStrap_7769cf4a.java could not be read severity 2

Resolving The Problem

Before installing these applications, set the ulimit in the command shells on your Linux system to 20000. Use the following command to set the ulimit:

    ulimit -n 20000

You can set the ulimit to be higher if that setting does not work.
