Installation Manager support for x86 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Is IBM Installation Manager supported on x86 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Cause

Installation Manager prior to version 1.6 is a 32-bit application hence it requires 32-bit versions of OS system libraries in order to run.

Answer

Support for 64-bit in was added in as of Installation Manager, Version 1.6.

WORKAROUND:

Install 32-bit runtime support libraries on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, if they are not present (RHEL 6.x by default does not install these)

Review the Preparing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 for installation and Preparing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 for installation documentation in the WebSphere Information Center for more details on how to install 32-bit runtime support libraries on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. After you install the 32-bit runtime support libraries you should be able to run Installation Manager whose version is prior to version 1.6.

For details about how to install the 32-bit versions of OS system libraries please see Unable to install Installation Manager on RHEL 6.0/6.1 (64-bit)
