Abstract
If "ZMODE T" is set, PK14527 may cause CRUISE problems when restoring tapes captured prior to the installation of PK14527. APAR PK50078 provides a "compatibility mode" for these restores.
Content
Specifying ZMODE T activates FARF6 8-byte file addressing for TPFDF files. PK14527 implemented a change in the layout of the 8-byte file address tape control block of CRUISE. This layout is used in CRUISE capture if ZMODE T is set.
Since the position of the control block indicator has been changed, tapes captured prior to the installation of PK14527 can no longer be restored if "ZMODE T" is set. PK14527 did not provide a "compatibility mode" in CRUISE. However, APAR PK50078 provides that compatibility, where tapes captured prior to the installation of PK14527 can be read and properly processed
If you have, or are planning to enter ZMODE T, then review the following:
- If you have already installed both PK14527 (PUT 21) and PK50078 (PUT 23), then no action is needed
- If you have already installed PK14527, but not PK50078, then ensure you no longer have a need to restore pre-PK14527 CRUISE capture tapes. If the restore of a pre-PK14527 capture tape may be still be required, do one of the following:
- If you have not already installed PK14527, then do one of the following:
