Problem
Error message appears when trying to open the Contributor Administration Console
Symptom
When trying to open the CAC:
"An error has occurred starting Cognos Planning - Contributor Administration. Main form failed to initialize."
After pressing OK to the above error message, another error message appears:
"Run-time error '429':
Unable to get the logger object required to log the error 'Unable to get the logger object required to log the error 'Unable to get the user view for Planning Administration Domain {GUID}
Unable to get the logger object required to log the error 'Unable to instantiate 'EpBrandingSafe_73.EnvironmentBranding' which is required to apply the branding to the prog id 'RDSHelper_%v.RDSHelper'
ActiveX component can't create object
At line 130 in Factory_73.ObjectFactory.RebrandProgId
At line 110 in Factory_73.ObjectFactory.CreateObject
At line 110 in DebugTools_"
In the planningerrorlog.csv file:
"Failed HRESULT [0x80040154] :Unable to create instance of branding (safe) component"
"At interface: process exception"
"Failed HRESULT [0x80040154] :Unable to connect to cache with document 'OfflineStore'"
Resolving The Problem
Validate and apply configuration settings in Configuration Manager:
Steps:1. Open Configuration Manager and select 'Open current configuration'.
2. Within the tree view, select the machine name and click on Validate Selection
3. Once the validation has been applied successfully then click on Applied Selection
4. Once the applied selection is successful, test opening the CAC again
