Using Trigger utility on a computer not having Cognos installed

Problem

Can you use the trigger.bat utility on the computer that does not have Cognos software installed?

Resolving The Problem

Yes, you can use trigger.bat utility from any computer as long as you have java.exe (JRE) and all the jar files mentioned in trigger.bat file installed on that computer.

Steps:
1- Copy all the files from <cognos>/c11/webapps/p2pd/WEB-INF/lib into a folder on the computer that you will be using the Trigger utility

2- From <cognos>/c11/webapps/utilities/trigger, copy trigger.bat and Trigger.class.

3- Edit trigger.bat file make sure you are pointing to the correct JAVA_HOME (JRE)

4- Edit JAR_HOME to include the location of the files copied in step 1 above.

5- Create a trigger in Cognos Connection and run the trigger.bat with the required parameters.
