Unable to login to Cognos Connection: CAM-AAA-0064 CM-SYS-5192 CM-SYS-5003

Troubleshooting


Problem

Users get intermittent errors when attempting to log in to the Cognos Connection portal.

Symptom

CAM-AAA-0064 The function 'CMQueryCognosSecurityJNI' failed.
CM-SYS-5192 Content Manager did something wrong.
CM-SYS-5003 Content Manager is unable to access the content store. Verify your database connection parameters and then contact your database administrator. Failed Logon:com.jnetdirect.jsql.g: CoInitialize - The COM library is already initialized on this thread [OleDB Status:1],
url:jdbc:JSQLConnect://<servername>/<content store name>/trustedAuthentication=true

Windows and MS SQL Server

Resolving The Problem

Try using SQL Server Authentication instead of Windows Authentication for the content store connection settings in Cognos Configuration.

Steps:

  1. Open Cognos Configuration
  2. Click on Content Manager
  3. Delete the Content Store Database entry
  4. Right click Content Manager
  5. Create a new Database using SQL Server Authentication
  6. Enter name and connection parameters
  7. Test the connection to make sure the parameters are correct
  8. Save and restart the services
