This document explains how to create a hyperlink button to run a report
Resolving The Problem
Create a report with a hyperlink button as follow:
Steps in Cognos Connection:
- Locate the report link. From Cognos Connection, open the properties of the report which will associate to the hyperlink button.
- Click the "View the search path, ID and URL" link in the top right of the report properties interface.
- Select and copy the report URL in the bottom URL pane into the clipboard.
- Close the search path and properties.
Steps in Report Studio:
- Create a new report in Report Studio.
- Drag and drop a Hyperlink button from the Report Studio Tool Box onto the report.
- In the properties pane of the button, paste the report URL in the URL property area under URL Source.
- Save the report back to Cognos Connection and run it.
- When the report loads in the Cognos Viewer, it will now be able to select the hyperlink button and then run another report.
This is useful for launching a report from another report. In a drill through scenario the solution enabled to go back from the target report to the source report.
