Key size for encryption algorithms in PointBase

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Concerning the encryption algorithms included in PointBase Embedded, what is the key length used for each algorithm?

Answer

Using PointBase Embedded prior to 5.6, the folowing list shows the key lengths for each of the supported encryption algorithms. Algorithm_Name: Key_Length -------------- ---------- BLOWFISH: Variable length key from 32 bits to 448 bits DES: 56 DES3: 56-bit session key is used three times. Therefore, 56x3 = 168 TEA: 128 IDEA: 128 TWOFISH: 256 As of version 5.6, PointBase uses the JCE, and you should consult your JVM's documentation regarding key lengths for its implemented encryption algorithms.
