Problem
Error number -9: DMS-E-GENERAL, A general exception has occurred during operation 'attach database'. ORA-06413: Connection not open This error occurs when you are attempting to test a database connection for Oracle Net 8.
Resolving The Problem
This error can occur when using Net 8 and the path to the executable contains an opening or closing bracket: '(' or ')'. To resolve this issue, rename the directory (or tree) containing the Impromptu executable so that it does not contain any bracket characters.
