Problem
The error below is returned when attempting the "Publish PowerCube as Data Source and Package..." operation from Transformer.
Symptom
PRS-OBJ-0617 The object '/portal/new_connection.xts' could not be created because a required capability is missing
Cause
The user logged into Transformer does not have required permissions and capabilities to create data source in Cognos Connection
Resolving The Problem
To create a data source in Cognos Connection the user requires Administration and Data Source Connections capability and permissions on the Cognos namespace. They also require Write permissions on Public Folders to create the package.
Steps to add Administration permissions
1. Go to Cognos Administration, Security tab
2. Go to Properties of the Cognos namespace, Permissions tab
3. Add User, Group or Role and grant Write, Execute and Traverse permissions
4. Go to Capabilities
5. Go to Administration Properties, Permissions tab
6. Add User, Group or Role and grant Execute and Traverse permissions
7. Click Administration capability link, go to Data Source Connections properties, Permissions tab
8. Add User, Group or Role and grant Write, Execute and Traverse permissions
Steps to add Public Folders Permissions
In Cognos Connection, go to Public Folders properties, Permissions tab. Add Write and Traverse permissions.
