Problem
In Cognos connection, try to access the permissions list on one of the packages, the server hangs.
Symptom
Cogserver.log has the following error message.
CAM-CRP-0026 An error was returned from the underlying socket implementation.
RSV-BBP-0029 Failed to cancel the request:
CCL-BIT-0005 A socket reported a communication error.
or
CM-SYS-5144 While processing your request, Content Manager locked some objects for 703.491 seconds. This lock may have caused some other
requests to be abandoned.
Cause
AIX enables Path MTU discovery by default and will limit the size of transmitted TCP/UDP packets.
Environment
AIX 5.3, Websphere, sunone directory server
Resolving The Problem
Contact network administrator to reduce the MTU size (a networking parameter) from 1500 to 1400
