Troubleshooting


Problem

When testing a datasouce connection to a Linux server's dispatcher, the connection test fails siting the server is unreachable.

Symptom

DPR-ERR-2072 error . The request failed. It was directed to a server that is not reachable.

Environment

Distributed configuration

Windows Server - 1st Dispatcher

Linux Server - 2nd Dispatcher

Resolving The Problem

Solution 1:

Change all references to the linux servers hostname in the linux server's Cognos Configuration to IP addresses.


Solution 2:

Add the DNS suffix to the Windows servers network card configuration.

Steps:Solution 2:

1) On Windows server, open Start Menu->Control Panel->Network Connections->Local Area Connection

2) Click the Properties button

3) Select the Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) under the "This connection uses the following items" window and click on Properties button.

4) Click the Advanced button.

5) Click the DNS tab.

6) Click the Append these DNS suffixes (in order): radial button and click the Add button. Enter the appropriate DNS suffix for your company e.g. cognos.com.

7) Click OK and then OK again and then Close twice.
