The z/OS configuration tool has been enhanced further to reduce the total cost of ownership. These enhancements streamline the overall configuration process.

Integrating the Configuration Tool: Category of Enhancements
To address our customers’ consumability concerns, the following enhancements are now available:
A. Support for the Install Job Generator (JOBGEN) SMP/E process with focus on maintenance strategies
B. A configuration verification program with parameter map
C. System Variables and Batch Mode improvements
D. Runtime environment (RTE) and navigation improvements
E. IBM Tivoli Monitoring configuration improvements
F. Product configuration accepts any product-specific parameters
G. Detailed preinstallation requirements/instructions and upgrade/deployment scenarios
H. Configuring the OMEGAMON Product Family - The PARMGEN Alternative Approach. z/OS sites that plan to run IBM Tivoli Monitoring version 6.2.3 may wish to try the new PARMGEN method of configuring their z/OS-based Tivoli Monitoring components (the OMEGAMON agents and the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server). When using this technology, you edit a comprehensive list of parameters in a CONFIG profile. The CONFIG profile contains parameters and values (IBM-supplied default or customer override) for configuring installed products and components. You then submit a series of jobs to create a complete runtime environment (RTE) using the parameter values you customized in the CONFIG profile.
