Question

How can I obtain the MAC (Media Access Control) address and Disk ID when needed for an old format (.lic) license in IBM Rational Appscan Standard?

Windows XP / Windows 2000

How to obtain the MAC address

  • Step 1 of 4: From the start menu on your desktop, click Run




  • Step 2 of 4: A Run window should appear on your screen. In the Run window, type in command then click the OK button.



  • Step 3 of 4: A command window should now appear. In this window, type in ' ipconfig /all ' and press the enter key.



  • Step 4 of 4: Information about your network settings will now be displayed. You can find your MAC address next to the label Physical Address (as shown in the image below).

    Take a note of that number.. Make sure you record all twelve digits, ignoring the dashes used as separators.



  • You have found your MAC address and close the command window.

How to obtain the Disk ID

  • Step 1 of 4: From the start menu on your desktop, click Run




  • Step 2 of 4: A Run window will appear. In the Run window, type in command then click OK.



  • Step 3 of 4: A command window should now appear. In this window, type in 'Vol ' and press the enter key.



  • Step 4 of 4: Information about your Disk ID will now be displayed.
