Translating ODBC '20101' Error Messages in WebSphere Message Broker

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

You receive a database error in IBM Integration Bus (IIB) or WebSphere Message Broker (WMB) with the Error Text '[IBM][ODBC 20101 driver]' followed by a number.
You wish to translate this error to understand what is failing.

Cause

The "20101" in this error message is a sign that the driver in use is unable to find (or load) its message catalog.
These catalogs are, by default, loaded from a subdirectory relative to the "InstallDir" location in the odbc.ini file.
The most likely cause for this error is that this location is not pointing to a valid location.

    InstallDir= <Your Broker install directory> /ODBC/V7.0
    UseCursorLib=0
    IANAAppCodePage=4
    UNICODE=UTF-8

Resolving the problem

Confirm the "InstallDir" path is correctly configured and restart the Broker to pick up the changes.
If the "20101" errors persist, verify that the message catalogs are present under this location, and that these files show valid permissions.
