Modifying the File in Release 7

Technote (FAQ)

In Release 7 the file is encrypted after the installation. When modifications need to be made to properties, the file should not be modified

After the installation of Release 7, the file has an encrypted password for the database user. If modifications need to be made to any of the properties in the they should not be made to this encrypted file. The file with the non-encrypted password should be used when modifications are needed.

To modify the file:

1. Delete or rename the in the ibm\smp\maximo\applications\maximo\properties folder

(Linux/Unix - /opt/IBM/SMP/maximo/applications/maximo/properties)

2. Copy the ibm\smp\etc\maximo.properties_orig to ibm\smp\maximo\applications\maximo\properties\

(Linux/Unix - Copy from opt/IBM/SMP/etc to /opt/IBM/SMP/maximo/applications/maximo/properties)

Depending on when the installation was done the maximo.properties_orig file may be in the ibm\smp\etc folder or it may be in this same folder.

3. Edit the and make the appropriate modifications, in particular the value of mxe.db.password

4. From a command prompt, change to the ibm\smp\maximo\tools\maximo folder

5. Run encryptproperties.bat

(Linux/Unix - From a terminal window run /opt/IBM/SMP/maximo/tools/maximo/

This will encrypt the database user password in the file and also copy the before the encryption to maximo.properties_orig so the new modifications are in the _orig file
