DB2 V8 Text Extender for z/OS dependencies

DB2 V8 Text Extender requires z/OS or z/OS.e Text Search which must be installed prior to Text Extender.

The z/OS and z/OS.e Text Search, formerly included in OS/390, z/OS and z/OS.e as a base element up to z/OS and z/OS.e Version 1.5, is a non-charged program provided only as a Web deliverable starting with z/OS and z/OS.e Version 1.6.

Starting with z/OS and z/OS.e Version 1.6, Text Search is licensed for installation and use only as a prerequisite function to DB2 Text Extender feature of DB2 for z/OS, V8 (Program Number 5625-DB2). The no-charge download of z/OS Text Search is available from the Text Extender support website at :

z/OS Text Search as prerequisite function to Text Extender requires the C/C++ IBM Open Class (IOC) Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs).
Starting with z/OS V1.9 the IOC DLLs and are not provided with z/OS V1.9 anymore. Therefore, for users have z/OS 1.9 and above IOC has to be downloaded and installed prior to the installation
of z/OS Text Search. The no-charge, unwarranted download of the IOC DLLs is available from the z/OS XL C/C++ support website at :

Text Extender is no longer available starting with DB2 V9 for z/OS. The follow-on technology is the OmniFind Text Search Server provided with the DB2 Accessories Suite for z/OS, V1.2 (5655-R14).
