AMQ9513 Maximum number of channels reached

Technote (troubleshooting)


Your system reaches the maximum number of channels allowed (AMQ9513 Maximum number of channels reached). You edit the qm.ini to add more channels but the system still fails at the default level of 100.

Resolving the problem

If you get an FDC file, then search the FDC for the following, to verify the actual MaxChannels being used by the queue manager:

Config Control Block
Options 0x6A
MaxChannels 100

In this example, the default level of 100 is still used. This could be that the queue manager was not stopped and restarted after the qm.ini file was modified. This file is read ONLY at the startup of the queue manager, which means, that once the queue manager is up and running, any changes to the qm.ini will not take effect dynamically.

Check that the new MaxChannels entry in the Channels stanza of the qm.ini is correctly specified.

One possibility is that the corresponding stanza was spelled wrong in the qm.ini file:

Channel: <------ Wrong


The stanza name was spelled wrong.

Channels: <------- Correct
