How to start IBM Installation Manager in a language other than locale

Question

How do you start IBM Rational Installation Manager (IM) in a language other than your operating system's locale language?

Cause

Possible cause include the following.

  • You have a non-English operating system and you want to run IM in English.

  • You have an English language operating system and you want to run IM in another language.

  • You receive the following message:


    Error: license Key Cannot Be Found

    The "IBM Rational Performance Tester" license key cannot be found.
    Click Manage Licenses to apply a license or uninstall the product. If you click Exit Workbench, you can resolve this issue later via the Installation Manager or by restarting the product and clicking Manage Licenses.



    At the bottom of in this error message window, you can click on buttons for:
    Manage Licenses and Exit Workbench. When you click Manage Licenses. IM opens in the locale language. Now you want to open IM in another language.

Answer

In order to change the language of the Installation Manager after installing it, modify as follows:

    • Add

      osgi.nl=[language abbreviation from the list below]


      at the end of the

      <code srctext="codesnippet">]
      <Installation Manager folder>\eclipse\configuration\config.ini
      .
OR

    • Add -Duser.language=[language abbreviation from the list below] after the -VMArgs in the <Installation Manager folder>\eclipse\IBMIM.ini
       .


Currently, the following languages are supported:


  • Dutch (nl)

  • English (en)

  • French (fr)

  • German (de)

  • Italian (it)

  • Polish (pl)

  • Spanish (es)



Note: If the last cause applies to your situation,

  1. Click Exit Workbench.

  2. Start IM with modifications above.
