'Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for' can be changed from 'User Security' despite policy lock down

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

You are rolling out a Desktop Settings document in a policy to apply to all Notes clients. The setting is "Logout (and lock Notes Display) if you haven't used Notes for XX minutes" and you choose to not allow users to change the value.

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a Desktop Settings document.

2. Configure the Desktop Policy setting "Lock ID after N minutes of inactivity:" to a number of minutes.

3. Make sure that "Allow users to change the setting on this tab" is NOT checked (i.e., make sure the setting in the policy is locked down.)

4. Create a new Policy and assign it to a User X.

5. Restart Notes and switch to User X.

6. Click File -> Preferences -> User Preferences -> Basic.

"Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for" is grayed out.

7. Click File -> Security -> User Security -> Security Basics.

"Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for" is not grayed out.

8. From the "User Security" dialog box, change the logout settings.

For example, deselect "Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for".

9. Go back to the "User Preferences" dialog box. Although the "Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for" field is grayed out, the logout settings displayed reflect your changes.

If the setting is manually toggled in one location, it will be reflected in the other location. For example, if you go to File -> Preferences -> User Preferences, and enable the setting to "Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for XX minutes", it will also be enabled in the User Security -> Basics tab, and vice versa.

Symptom

The "Logout (and lock Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for" field on both "User Preferences" and "User Security" dialog refer to the same logout settings, thus both should be grayed out to prevent users from overriding logout settings.
