Planning

Planning migration for your environment requires that you determine a strategy on how to approach the migration and create a migration plan that includes all of the migration process details.

Determine all of the migration process details for each component in your environment that you need to know to write your migration plan.

For each component, you must include in your migration plan:

Migration prerequisites
Pre-migration tasks
Migration tasks
Post-migration tasks

Search through the following product Information Centers to learn the migration process details for all of the components in your InfoSphere Warehouse environment:

IBM DB2 Information Center
Refer to the Migrating topic under Data warehousing and analytics to learn how to migrate some of the components in your InfoSphere Warehouse environment. Refer to the Installing topic under Data warehousing and analytics to learn the new prerequisites, the new options, and how to install InfoSphere Warehouse Version 9.5.

Migrating

Follow the migration plan for your environment. The migration process for each component of your InfoSphere Warehouse environment is described on the following topics in the product Information Centers:

Migrating from DB2 DWE V9.1.1 or V9.1.2 to InfoSphere Warehouse V9.5
Migrating to DB2 Version 9.5
Migrating to Query Patroller Version 9.5
Migrating Intelligent Miner
Migrating WebSphere Application Server
Upgrading and migrating to Alphablox V9.5

If you were using DB2 Warehouse Center (DWC), you can use the DB2 Data Warehouse Center (DWC) to DB2 Data Warehouse Edition (DWE) migration tool which is an Eclipse-based tool that helps DWC users migrate their existing DWC (V8) metadata into the DWE (V9) SQL Warehousing Tool (SQW) environment. The tool consists of a set of Eclipse plug-ins that can be easily installed on top of the existing DWE Design Studio. The tool is available in developerWorks at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/downloads/dwcmigration/.
