Question

wepstatus command shows error message as "unavilable 8 ". Also, lcfd.log may log messages as "command exit code: 16" followed by "Adjusted privilege group (rv=1)".

Answer

Under an Active Directory environment, if "Administrator", Administrators" or "Tivoli_Admin_Privileges" configuration is changed for security reason, wepstaus could show error message "unavilable 8" as result.

In lcfd.log following messages are logged.

Jan 07 17:19:29 Q lcfd Check service start parameters
Jan 07 17:19:29 Q lcfd Service is configured to start automatically
Jan 07 17:19:29 Q lcfd Check service recovery configuration

The solutions to prevent this symptom are as below:-
1. Attach the "Administrator" account to the "Tivoli_Admin_Privileges" group
or
2. Set "diag_accts=false" in the last.cfg (required to restart the lcfd)

In this case, "wep <EP> status" command returns "Alive" but the result of health_check function causes error message as "unavailable=8".

"wep <EP> status" command is helpful to confirm if the problem was solved or not.
- If the problem persists, it shows message as "EP=pigmon belongs to GW=gamella-gw is unavailable (error_code(s)= 8)".
- And if the problem is solved, it shows message as - "pigmon is alive"
