IBM DB2 Warehouse Cubing Services known issues: Modifying the structure of your cube hierarchy

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Do not modify the structure of the cube hierarchies to be different from the cube model hierarchy. If you modify the cube hierarchies, any calculated members that are defined on that hierarchy might not be valid when you start the cube.

Diagnosing the problem

If you do modify the structure, you will create more hierarchies than you originally designed when you retrieve metadata from the repository.

Resolving the problem

To subset or modify the hierarchy, create a new hierarchy.

To create a new hierarchy:

    1. Within Design Studio, drill-down in the Project Explorer to Hierarchies.
    2. Right-click on Hierarchies and select Add Hierarchy.
