Problem

On certain non unicode SAP systems, user may encounter error with SQI Module of WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software and throws Exception.

Cause

On certain non unicode SAP systems user may encounter error with SAP Adapter's SQI module.This is due to SQI module’s dependency on RFC_READ_TABLE .
On certain non unicode systems RFC_READ_TABLE fails and causes SAP short dumps, this makes adapter to throw Exception " Error in ASSIGN statement in the program SAPLSDTX ".

Please refer to the SAP OSS note # 758278 to further understand the cause.

(This SAP OSS note Symptom heading describes as "Function Module does not work in Unicode systems" However, this technote resolves the issue in non-Unicode System . We have created a message to SAP for clarification.)

Resolving The Problem

Refer to the SAP OSS note # 758278(Function Module does not work in Unicode systems) and follow the configuration settings to overcome this problem.
No configuration changes are necessary on the WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software component.
