Question & Answer
Question
Normally Rational Asset Manager would be set up to authenticate using LDAP. When working without an LDAP directory this is not needed; for example in a testing scenario, an alternative method is available.
Answer
Although not recommended in a production system, one can add the respective user(s) to the users.props and groups.props files located in the path:
<RAM <br />install dir>/conf/security. Use the attached instructions to modify the users.props and groups.props files.
Use the following information as a reference.
Format of the groups.props file:
name:gid:users:display name
where name = groupId of the group
gid = uniqueId of the group
users = list of all the userIds that the group contains
display name = a (optional) display name for the group.
Format of the users.props file:
name:passwd:uid:gids:display name
where name = userId/userName of the user
passwd = password of the user
uid = uniqueId of the user
gid = groupIds of the groups that the user belongs to
display name = a (optional) display name for the user.
Then restart the server.
Following the addition of a user, that user will first need to 'register' in Rational Asset Manager before an administator can add them to a community. To register, a user needs only to sign in to Rational Asset Manager, using the credentials entered in files above.
