Troubleshooting
Problem
When attempting to launch IBM® Rational® Performance Tester (RPT), a "JVM Terminated. Exit Code = 1" error message is displayed with additional information about javaw.exe and command line switches.
Cause
This behavior can occur because RPT uses class caching for the Java™ Virtual Machine (JVM) and the class cache has become corrupt. The class cache is used to reduce the virtual memory footprint and improve startup time of the product.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve the problem, clear the corrupt cache. To clear the cache:
- Open a command prompt.
- Navigate to the directory containing the java.exe that the product is configured to use, for example:
RPT_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY/jdk/bin
- Type the following command:
javaw.exe -Xshareclasses:destroy
