Troubleshooting
Problem
This document clarifies the setup needed to associate a Cost Management project with a workorder
Environment
Cost Management is used in conjunction with the Integration framework which allows Maximo to be linked to an external financial system in order to make use of Cost Management functionality. The third party software provides for budgeting functionality and the information is pulled into Maximo using the Cost Management interface.
The MEA Oracle Adapter provides an interface to Oracle's Project Accounting Application.
On its own, the Cost Management application does not track and/or sum the costs for a project within Maximo.
Resolving The Problem
The Maximo System Administrators Guide Chapter 8 instructs you to:
"To use this application, use Application Designer to add the Project and
Task fields to the Work Order tab in Work Order Tracking."
To be more specific, you must use Application Designer and add the FCPROJECTID attribute of the WORKORDER object to the Work Order tab and specify PARENTPROJECT as the lookup as shown below. You must also add the FCTASKID attribute of the WORKORDER object with a lookup of PARENTTASK. When this is done, you will be able to lookup and select Project and Task IDs for a workorder, which will cause the WORKORDER.FINCNTRLID to be filled in. The FINCNTRLID value will then be propagated to other tables, such as MATUSETRANS when something is issued to a workorder, or LABTRANS when a labor actual is reported for a workorder.
The screenshot below shows both fields added (with default labels of "Project ID" and "Task") and the Textbox Properties for FCPROJECTID.
The screenshot below shows the Textbox Properties for FCTASKID:
