Answer

You can follow the steps to install Rational Purify and Rational PurifyPlus Named User keys:

  1. After generating a Rational Purify or Rational PurifyPlus for UNIX/Linux Named user license, you will receive an upd file similar to the following.

    #================================================================
    SERVER fr02telstar 000d6019ead4
    VENDOR rational

    INCREMENT PurifyPlusUNIX rational 5.00000 permanent 1 9FC5F341836D \
           VENDOR_STRING="0|NamedUser| |purecov:5.0 purify:5.0 \
           quantify:5.0" OVERDRAFT=0 USER_BASED DUP_GROUP=UH \
           vendor_info="0|IBM Rational PurifyPlus for Linux and UNIX \
           Named User License Key|0" ISSUED=06-sep-2006 NOTICE="Sales \
           Order Number: SO-000003 for IBM Rational CRC" ck=83 SN=388340
    #================================================================

    Save this file as hostname.dat in your Rational/Config directory.

  2. Edit the file to resemble the following:

    Note: You will notice that the paths for the rational daemon and for the rational.opt file need to be added. Your paths may differ from those in the example, so be sure to use the correct paths for your system.

    #================================================================
    SERVER fr02telstar 000d6019ead4
    VENDOR rational /projets/sup_attol/Install/Rational/license/rational /projets/sup_attol/Install/Rational/license/rational.opt

    INCREMENT PurifyPlusUNIX rational 5.00000 permanent 1 9FC5F341836D \
           VENDOR_STRING="0|NamedUser| |purecov:5.0 purify:5.0 \
           quantify:5.0" OVERDRAFT=0 USER_BASED DUP_GROUP=UH \
           vendor_info="0|IBM Rational PurifyPlus for Linux and UNIX \
           Named User License Key|0" ISSUED=06-sep-2006 NOTICE="Sales \
           Order Number: SO-000003 for IBM Rational CRC" ck=83 SN=388340
    #================================================================

  3. Open your rational.opt file (or create one if needed)

  4. Edit the file to specify a user for each Purify license.

    Format:
    #===============================================================
    GROUP groupname user1 user2 user3 etc
    INCLUDE productname:KEY=HEXvalue GROUP groupname
    #===============================================================

    Example (in accordance with the above key):
    #===============================================================
    GROUP DevTools_000 supattol
    INCLUDE PurifyPlusUNIX:KEY=9FC5F341836D GROUP DevTools_000
    #===============================================================

  5. Run rs_install from your license server location.

  6. Start the license server.

You should now be able to serve the license to the specified users.
