Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
When trying to use the Related document id field in an XML format to link documents in the document viewer, the documents are not linked as you would expect.
Cause
Documents can be associated only if the associated document is a response to the primary request document.
To understand this, consider two partners, partner A and partner B.
When a request is sent from partner A to partner B, a response has to flow in the opposite direction, in this case from partner B to partner A.
For the case where the primary document is a request from partner A to partner B, a response from partner B to partner A can be associated using the Related document id field in an XML format. Documents that are not from partner B to partner A cannot be associated with the original request that went from partner A to partner B because they are not responses to the original document.
Resolving the problem
For documents to be linked in the document viewer, the Related document id field of one document must match the Document id field of the other document, and the source and target partner ids must be reversed in the messages.
