Error 404 displays when accessing /myportal after enabling Trust Association

 Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)
After enabling Trust Association in the IBM WebSphere® Application Server either manually or by using a WebSphere Portal configuration task, you receive a 404 error when attempting to access a protected Portal resource under the URI /myportal. You expect to see the Login page. The 404 error is displayed if you trace the HTTP headers and/or use Mozilla Firefox®. If you use Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, you may see a "Page cannot be displayed" error.

Resolving the problem
In addition to the 404 error itself, the HTTP headers display the following:
GET /wps/myportal HTTP/1.1

Based on this information, the following WebSphere Application Server APAR was identified as containing a fix: PK34390: unauthenticated HTTP requests are redirected to the error page. After installing the fix for this APAR, the issue was resolved and the Portal user saw the Login page as expected.
