Error 404 displays when accessing /myportal after enabling Trust Association
|
| | | Problem(Abstract) | | After enabling Trust Association in the IBM WebSphere® Application Server either manually or by using a WebSphere Portal configuration task, you receive a 404 error when attempting to access a protected Portal resource under the URI /myportal. You expect to see the Login page. The 404 error is displayed if you trace the HTTP headers and/or use Mozilla Firefox®. If you use Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, you may see a "Page cannot be displayed" error. | | | | | | Resolving the problem | In addition to the 404 error itself, the HTTP headers display the following: GET /wps/myportal HTTP/1.1 Host: host.domain.com:10038 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2 Accept: text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q =0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5 Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 300 Connection: keep-alive HTTP/1.x 302 Found Location: http://host.domain.com:10038/wps/error.html Content-Language: en Content-Length: 0 Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 19:40:23 GMT Server: WebSphere Application Server/6.0 ----------------------------------------------------------http://host.domain.com:10038/wps/error.html

After collecting an Application Server security trace of the issue to investigate further, Product Support found the following related messages in the trace.log: [datetime] 000000c8 WebAuthentica 3 Redirect to the error page: /wps/error.html [datetime] 000000c8 WebAuthentica < authenticate Exit [datetime] 000000c8 WebCollaborat 3 redirecting to another url [datetime] 000000c8 RedirectReply 3 Security redirect code set to: 302 [datetime] 000000c8 WebCollaborat < checkAuthStatus Exit com.ibm.ws.security.web.RedirectReply@bb6415 [datetime] 000000c8 WebCollaborat < authorize Exit com.ibm.ws.security.web.RedirectReply@bb6415 [datetime] 000000c8 EJSWebCollabo > handleException Entry com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.srt.SRTServletRequest@dc219d com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.srt.SRTServletResponse@ba1044 com.ibm.ws.security.web.WebSecurityException: /wps/error.html
Based on this information, the following WebSphere Application Server APAR was identified as containing a fix: PK34390: unauthenticated HTTP requests are redirected to the error page. After installing the fix for this APAR, the issue was resolved and the Portal user saw the Login page as expected.
