Difference in e-mail originator from Notes client and Web

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem

The originator of a Lotus® Workflow notification differs depending on whether you click Save & Compete from a Web browser or Lotus Notes® client.

  • If using a Notes client, then the e-mail notification is sent with the Workflow Administrator (signer of agent) as the originator.
  • If using a Web browser, then the e-mail notification is sent with the Web user as the originator, rather than the Workflow Administrator.

You expect the notification should be sent from the Workflow Administrator in both cases.

Resolving the problem

This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# DPOL6TZETZ. This behavior occurs only when using "Immediate(client-based) routing" as the routing mechanism. When using a Web browser, the agent that sends the mail for that routing type is run as Web user, so uses the Web user's name. Currently, there is no known workaround other than to avoid using a Web browser or that routing type.
