Resolving installation errors 1935 and 2908 in Rose

Troubleshooting


Problem

During installation of IBM® Rational Rose® Enterprise or Rational Rose Professional Data Modeler for Windows, the following errors are encountered and cause the installation to terminate unsuccessfully: [] IBM Rational Rose Professional Data Modeler Edition Installation: Internal Error 2908 IBM Rational Rose Professional Data Modeler: Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Interop.Rational.RationalRose,Version='17.2.0.0',Culture='neutral'"[]

Resolving The Problem

This issue can be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling all versions of the Microsoft® .NET Framework and running the installation according to the following steps:

  1. Remove all files from the unsuccessful installation.
    For instructions on complete uninstallation, refer to technote 1227902
  2. Uninstall the .NET Framework 1.1 and the .NET Framework 2.0
    1. Open the Control Panel
    2. Open Add or Remove Programs
    3. Select Microsoft .NET Frameworks 1.1 and 2.0 and remove them one at a time.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 from the following link:
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569264.aspx
  5. Restart the system
  6. Reinstall Rational Rose
